ROTARY'S FOUR WAY TEST
"Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it Build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

Steve Larson says that Monday is the 8th anniversary of a blind date—and he is still with the girl (his wife, Nona)

Erin Stephenson elaborated a bit on the First Federal rewards program. If you have any type of account with the bank you can go to their website and download the program and timecards so you can track your hours for Rotary or any other non profit agency you are involved with that is also registered with First Fed.

You can then email your hours to Erin at the end of the month—it’s like free money for the club. If you have any questions, just contact Erin or Ray Fields and they can give you more details.

Bruce Huffman invited everyone to the Hillside Manor Christmas program this Sunday evening at 6:45 pm.

Ray Fields reminded the club to make tax-deductible charitable donations to the Club and the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International before December 31st to take advantage on your 2009 tax returns.

CONY said that TAMARA BORGES said hello to everyone from Sunny Brazil!

AUSTIN PALACIOS, Interact Club president at Mac high, outlined some of the upcoming fundraisers their club is working on. They’ll be working at the St Barnabus soup kitchen, fundraising for YCAP, doing a service trip to work with youth in Tacoma and they are managing the Treasure Box, a clothing resource for the high school students.

Darrick Price added $5.00 to the pot for Boise State’s football team and Van Keck added $5.00 for getting the entire room to cheer, “Go Ducks!” However, Brent wasn’t present so does that count as unanimous?

Lee Means asked everyone to watch the Orange Bowl because the Mac High dance team will be performing at halftime.

Darrick said President Jan asked him to tell a few Christmas jokes and he bravely gave it a go.

What do you get when you cross a Christmas tree with an apple? A pine-apple.

What did the bald man say when he got a comb for Christmas? “I’ll never part with it.”

What song do monkeys sing at Christmas? (wait for it…) “Jungle Bells, Jungle bells…”

President Jan asked us all to put our spare change in the red baskets for the Pennies for Polio campaign.

MAIN EVENT

Kris Olsen introduced DANA LIBONATTI, Music Director at the High School and director of the Twilighters group. Dana did the arrangements of all the songs the group performed today. He says he gets a lot of satisfaction out of directing the kids and only two members of this year’s Twilighters are returning students—the rest are new to the group this year.

Today’s performance at Rotary was their 4th performance—of the day! This is a busy group in high demand.

They sang “Winter Wonderland”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Sweet Love”, “Reminiscing” and a medley of Christmas songs set in 5/4 time for a swingier twist on the old faves.

They gave a wonderful performance and the group received a standing ovation from the club when they finished.

The musicians accompanying the group were LUKE BLANCHARD, BETHANY HUMLIE, LACIE KNUTZ, BEN SANDERLIN AND MATT SILVER.

DANA LIBONATTI noodled around on the keyboard during a couple of the songs. Edwina’s son, EHREN CASTLE, had a nice solo on one of the songs.

The Twilighters are a beloved McMinnville tradition and they regularly release cd’s, one of which is still available. It’s a tribute to the Beatles.

CLOSING

President Jan adjourned the meeting by wishing everyone happy holidays and best wishes for a happy new year.  Ken Till made a quick announcement that Del Smith’s Evergreen International Aviation will be working with Rotary International on the prevention of malaria in developing countries, eventually using their 747 Supertanker. More details to follow!
