OPENING |
|
|
Bob Mason
and Art Bradley greeted
Rotarians at what was a delightful,
but cramped meeting.
Jan
Hartzell
led the club in an invocation and
Dianne Haugeberg got the meeting
off to an official start with the
Pledge of Allegiance.
President Chuck started the meeting by calling for the introduction of guests.
|
|
VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS |

Eric Hanson
introduced his son Soloman, who is recently back
from his mission and will now return to his
studies at BYU.
|

Ryan Arzner
introduced visiting Rotarians Jim and Molly
Walker who will be making the switch to our club
official soon.
|

Stephanie Jensen
introduced her guests Shelby Saunders
and (camera shy) Jeffery Jensen.
|

Steve Macy
introduced “the next Mayor of
McMinnville” Stan Primozich.
|

Lee Vasquez

Waste.

MEMBER RECOGNITION, BRAGS AND
ANNOUNCEMENTS |

Next up,
Darrick Price led the club
through a very quick round of member
recognition—with NO ONE to recognize
this week. Turning to announcements. . .
|

Russ Rainwater
thanked club members for attending the
grand opening of Amerititle’s new office
in Dundee.
|

Tom Tankersley
bragged on behalf of Al Hansen
that he was endorsed by the Statesman
Journal. It was a surprise to Al,
but somehow no donation was forthcoming
from either party.
|

Bruce
Huffman, always the “Honest Abe” chimed in that the club had missed his
anniversary with Esther, which on the 24th
of October will be 57 months. He’s a
numbers guy!
|

Steve Battaglia
apologized for the tight quarters. With
a big wedding on deck for Friday night
at the ballroom, the wedding party got a
little ahead of themselves with setting
up.
|

And finally, Darrick Price fessed
up to his own 35th birthday
coming up in a few days, and reminisced
on his many missed opportunities to wear
red satin pants. You’ll have to ask him.
. .
|

Next Jan Hartzell
introduced Darrel Funk, the
Recycling Education Coordinator
for WOW, who gave a brief
overview of electronics
recycling in our community. The
long and short of it—it’s free
for everyone at the Recovery
Zone after January 1st!

MAIN EVENT
|
 Turning
to our program, President Chuck
introduced Dr. Bruce Lowe, M.D., who is the head
of the Prostate Cancer Center at Good Samaritan
Hospital. Dr. Lowe gave a brief overview of
prostate cancer, which is the most common cancer
in men, and talked about the advantages of
having all types of care (from surgeons to
social workers) in one clinic. He then gave an
excellent presentation on the use of robotics in
performing surgery on prostates, and cites
figures that show it speeds recovery time and
lowers blood loss during surgery. As a surgeon
who uses robotics in his own practice, he was
able to provide many firsthand examples of
success. If you would like to view Dr. Lowe’s
PowerPoint presentation on the Prostate Cancer
Center, please contact
Ray Fields.
|
| CLOSING |

To wrap up the meeting President Chuck
thanked Dr. Lowe and asked him to sign a
book for our early reader program.
