ROTARY'S FOUR WAY TEST
"Of the things we think, say or do:1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it Build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
SOMETHING NEW
We are here on earth and we are here to stay during our respectively allotted periods. How much of happiness and how much of misery shall be our share remains with us almost entirely to determine. If we possess a modicum of reason, it will be apparent to us that it is the part of wisdom to cheerfully make the best of the situation and to harmonize our own lives with nature's inexorable laws. We are entitled to the maximum of happiness; and may we be sane enough to observe that the route to a life full of happiness does not lie in intemperate indulgence.“
We need and the world needs an optimistic, rational philosophy of life."
“The Distance Self” by Paul P Harris – The Rotarian, February 1914
This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about Humanitarian Programs in East Asia related to education.
The Japanese Rotary club of Omiya City Rotary (as reported through The Rotary-No-Tomo, the English language Rotary Magazine) has built schools and provided books in Bang Kong, Cambodia. The Nabari Chuoh Rotary has built a library for children of the Suoi Day Elementary and Junior High School in Vietnam. So many projects like these show Rotarians’ dedication to education and literacy.
Rotarians are proud of their long history as sponsors for Educational Programs. Yearly support to the Annual Programs Fund's Every Rotarian Every Year initiative ensures the tradition of educational excellence is upheld.
