ROTARY'S FOUR WAY TEST
"Of the things we think, say or do:1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it Build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
SOMETHING NEW
"But, we ask, must the best genius of men be devoted to the science of war and none to the science of averting it?"
Paul P. Harris – Guest Editorial in The Rotarian (Feb. 1940) “We Must Plan for Peace.”

MAIN EVENT
AG Mark Wulf of the Salem Rotary introduced Aurore Gayon from Benin, Africa. She is the President of her 30 member, bi-lingual club called the Rotary Club of Cotonou-Centre which was chartered in 2000. She is also a Consultant and Director for Resources plus.
Aurore gave a presentation about her country and what Rotary has done to help them. She lives in a democratic country, where 11 Rotary clubs exist and only 36% of the people can read and write. Rotary funds have helped provide revenue for women (in the way of providing equipment to turn Kassava root into flour), welding equipment and teachers for trade programs, an echograph, books, drinkable water facilities, public toilets, and an education center for disabled people.
The next projects that they would like to receive funds for are for school boats (to transport 60 students at a time) at the cost of $9,000.00 each and a water well.
She thanked Rotary and donors to the Rotary Foundation for their support because her country receives funds generated from this foundation.
Mark Wulf mentioned that he had at one time suggested that Aurore go into politics and she said she can do more for her country in Rotary than she could in politics.
CLOSING
President Art Bradley presented Aurore Gayon with a book that will go to the local reading program in her name, a club banner and a McMinnville Rotary shirt. Aurore Gayon presented President Art Bradley with a key chain made of wood from West Africa. President Art Bradley adjourned the meeting.
After the meeting Aurore was treated to a ride on the back of Chuck Pattishall's Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The Board of Directors has approved the following for membership:
Sharon Larson sponsored by Brent Adams, is proposed for the classification of “Boy Scouts - Executive” She will automatically become a member unless anyone objects in writing within ten days of publication of this notice.*
Lipstick at School
According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington recently was faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.
That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Every night, the maintenance man would remove them and the next day, the girls would put them back. Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night.
To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
