ROTARY'S FOUR WAY TEST
"Of the things we think, say or do:1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it Build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
opening
Today's "welcoming team" included Maureen Chapman, Bob Thompson , Mary Jenkins and .DG Tom Jenkins
The meeting was led by President Art Bradley.
An inspirational moment was provided by John Larsen.
"The world is a huge orchestra in which each one of us has his own little insignificant part to play. The success of your instrument and mine depends not upon the amount of noise they make, but upon how perfectly they harmonize with the instruments about us; and he who, sufficient unto himself, insists upon blowing his own horn in his own big pompous way, finds himself not only a maker of discords, but also persona non grata to all the rest of the band. If Rotary can bring home to us a fuller realization of the fact that we are not individual performers, but rather small parts of a stupendous entirety, not only will our lives harmonize better with the lives of those around us, but will also find them easier and better worth living." -Paul Harris - March 1912 The National Rotarian
Ron Benek led the flag salute.

A husband was in big trouble when he forgot his wedding anniversary.
His wife told him "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway
for me that goes zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat." The next morning the
wife found a small package in the driveway. She opened it and found a
brand new bathroom scale. Funeral arrangements for the husband have
been set for Saturday.Main event
District Governor Tom Jenkins began his talk with a discussion of symbolism...he had recently visited Oregon's newest club in West Linn, worked with another soon to be chartered West Columbia Gorge club at McMenamin’s Edgefield and today visited the McMinnville Club which is the #6 club in the District, with a May 1, 1921 charter. He complemented McMinnville for being such a historic and successful club.
DG Tom discussed the changing nature of Rotary, the focus of Rotary's International President Bill Boyd and what the District hopes to accomplish.
DG Tom gave some closing advice: make sure what you do takes care of the entire club, each member should make a commitment of $100 a year to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International (and he and Mary will match $100), grow a whole new group of leaders and support District events (including the May 3-6, 2007 District Conference in Salem).
DG Tom recognized Lee Vasquez and his wife with a "Century of Service" book, convention ceremony DVD and a medallion for being an "Official Navigator for 2006-2007" for their outstanding service to the club.
DG Tom also presented President Art with an "Official Navigator" medallion.
CLOSING
President Art presented District Governor Tom with a book that will be donated to School District 40's Early Reader program in his name as well as a $500 donation to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in .both his and Mary's name.
