Brian Van Cleave Named Rotarian of the Year!

Al Hansen Honored with Bill Stryker Award!

Cy Jeter and Milt Robins Named MVPs!

Gavel Passed from Paul Colbert to Ray Fields!

If you missed the Demotion Dinner, you missed a fun evening. Emcee Rosemari Davis complimented the group on our successful spiffing up and mannerly ways. Paul Colbert was appropriately roasted by Van Keck with results of research conducted in a specific area of Spokane, Al Hansen with a musical tribute including "Paul the Magic Dragon...frolicked in McVillee", and Doug Anderson with some zingers including a video of Paul's performance in a Biggest Turkey Talent competition. When Paul started to respond, Harry Cure interrupted with a few words. Then Paul took his opportunity to convey thank yous: to Harry for preparing him for the presidency; to Waldo Farnham for showing Paul what Rotary should be; to Ray Wikle for introducing Paul to the emotional rewards of bell-ringing for The Salvation Army; and to the club officers and board members for their assistance.

AS MEMBERS WERE CONSIDERED FOR ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR, Prez Paul said it was a difficult choice. Cy and Milt were recognized as the MVPs. Johannes Goddik always made Paul feel at home, Bob Rhoads took care of the lion's share of programs, Steve Larson handled so many details, Suzie Edmiston and Mike Strange accomplished some great things. Brian Van Cleave took top honors though, for spearheading the teamwork that saved Youth Exchange.

"A DECENT, HONEST, HONORABLE MAN WITH A TREMENDOUS SENSE OF HUMOR" and a long list of accomplishments describes Al Hansen, recipient of the Bill Stryker Award.

NEW PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS RECOGNIZED...Cy Jeter presented Lea New and Paul Colbert as two of the four new Paul Harris Fellows.

NEW PRESIDENT Ray Fields brought his board forward to receive Rotary Director pins.

HOW DO YOU TOP A GREAT ROTARY YEAR? With another one! And here's some of what's ahead:

This week, July 3 - We get better acquainted with Mars Smith, via his vocational talk. Mars' classification is Commercial Bakery...will he bring samples?

July 7 - The Hardtops kick off the Summer Concert Series. Rock to the great sound of 50's & 60's music, 7 p.m., in the beautiful Linfield Oak Grove.

July 10 - Break away from TurkeyTrauma for Rotary Club Assembly

July 14 - Calabo entertains in the Summer Concert Series.

July 17 - Consider....the proposed McMinnville Rotary Nature Park. Mike Strange and others involved in molding this idea into a well-thought-out package will make a presentation for the membership.

July 21 - The All Night Cowboys, voted the best Country Western Band in Oregon, entertain at Linfield 7 p.m.

CAN YOU HELP OUT WHILE YOU ENJOY THE MUSIC? Paul Colbert is looking for a few good people to help at the Summer Concert Series. Also needed - an RV that can be parked behind the stage to provide a costume changing area for performers.

"When meeting day comes around, I do not have to decide whether to attend or not, for that has already been decided for me . . . it was one of the obligations I accepted when I joined Rotary." -- A Rotarian
