CLUB SERVICE PROJECTS

CLUB FOUNDATION: Rotary Club of McMinnville Foundation, Inc. is a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit Oregon corporation into which are placed much of the funds raised by the club in its fund raising projects. Income generated by the foundation's investments are used for scholarships and other educational or charitable purposes.

HISTORY: Hazen B. "Cy" Jeter, who joined the club December 6, 1986 and served as club president 1990-91, compiled a History of The Rotary Club of McMinnville (1.2 gb pdf file) from its beginning up until shortly before he passed away November 10, 2001. Much of the information in the book came from club bulletins. For club history after that contained in the book can be found by reading the weekly club bulletins that are on the web.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

ON GOING PROJECTS: On going projects are projects that are done each year such as:

NEW GENERATIONS: The club sponsors both an Interact Club at McMinnville High School and a Rotaract Club at Linfield College. In addition to the club sponsors a young person to the District 5100 RYLA Camp. Also part of the New Generations program is Youth Exchange. See more about this under International projects.

Summer Concert Series: The Summer Concert Series brings musicians from all over to perform for the community in an open park setting. Admission to the concerts is free.

Dictionary Project: All 4th grade students in Amity, Carlton, Dayton, McMinnville, and Yamhill school districts receive a dictionary. Those students whose first language is Spanish also receive a Spanish/English - English/Spanish dictionary.

Rotary 4 Way Test: The club also sponsors a Rotary 4 Way Test essay contest for 7th graders and a Rotary 4 Way Test speech contest for 8th graders in the McMinnville middle schools.

Youth Activities: McMinnville Rotary provides financial support to the following groups and organizations:
